In 2017, Mr Chen Chong, Chairman of the Foundation, together with ten fellow entrepreneurs, endowed the Yinghua Scholars Fund at Tsinghua University. The initiative selects exceptional undergraduates distinguished by strong academic performance, sound moral character, lofty aspirations, profound academic enthusiasm and a rich humanistic spirit. Awarded a full scholarship, these scholars undertake one-year visiting studies at leading universities worldwide. The programme is designed to broadly broaden their international outlook and strengthen their global competence, nurturing outstanding scholars committed to theoretical innovation, rigorous academic research and advancing global transformation for the future.

As artificial intelligence reshapes knowledge creation and application, global challenges are becoming increasingly complex—spanning disciplines, cultures, and borders. To solve these issues, the world needs boundary-spanning thinkers: leaders rooted in their own culture who truly understand others; professionals who balance expertise with humanistic empathy; and individuals who channel their pursuit of personal excellence into driving social progress through knowledge, action, and responsibility.
Since 2017, the Yinghua Scholars Programme has been anchored by a simple yet unwavering conviction: investing in the growth of promising, ambitious and responsible young talents represents the most vital investment in our shared future.
Consistently excelling in academic research and broadening their global outlook, many Yinghua Scholars have received prestigious honours such as Tsinghua University Top-Grade Undergraduate Scholarship. Notably, nearly all scholars proceed to pursue postgraduate studies.
The Yinghua Scholars Programme stretches well beyond funding overseas exchange opportunities for students. Firmly rooted at Tsinghua University, it functions as a core platform enabling the wider student community to engage with and explore the world.
Yinghua Academic Tutorials
The programme introduces Oxford University's tutorial system to Tsinghua University's Rixin College by inviting Oxford faculty to host group academic seminars. These sessions aim to bolster students' critical thinking and analytical skills through rigorous intellectual engagement.
Yinghua Coffee Time
Established in collaboration with the Management Center for Colleges at Tsinghua University, this programme aims to strengthen faculty-student engagement and enhance the college community. It provides a welcoming environment that fosters academic dialogue, personal guidance, and daily interaction across campus.
Yinghua Arts Hour
Enriching campus culture through music salons, guided appreciation, and public performances, this initiative seamlessly weaves artistic expression into Tsinghua life.
Yinghua Arts Spaces
Supported by the Yinghua Scholars Programme, this initiative transforms public teaching building spaces into open venues for aesthetic education. At the Jianhua Building it has mounted three exhibitions — the Guan Zhaoye Scholarship Design Award, “Sustainable Future Spaces”, and “Shui Mu Yi Yun: Graduate Works from the Academy of Arts & Design” — spanning architecture, urban design, and Chinese painting, oil painting, and sculpture, turning everyday corridors into art spaces students and faculty encounter on the go.
Located at No. 22 Building, Shengyin Yuan, Tsinghua University, Yinghua House was established in 2018 as a vibrant hub for global competence and cultural exchange, open to all Tsinghua faculty and students. While maintaining its original historical exterior, the interior thoughtfully merges Eastern and Western traditions with modern aesthetics. During the day, the space comes alive with micro-salons, workshops and scholarly debate; at night, it becomes a quiet place for Yinghua Scholars to study and conduct research.
Originally built in 1946 and designed by the team led by Lin Huiyin, Shengyin Yuan carries a profound historical and cultural legacy within the campus.
